An FAA review concludes that some airports aren’t taking the threat of bird strikes seriously.
“USA Today” reports about 150 airports, nearly one out of every three, didn’t complete studies of wildlife hazards despite their histories of serious collisions between aircraft and birds or other animals.
However, FYI already has a program in place according to airport spokeswoman Vikkie Calderon.
“The inspection included revising our bird wildlife aircraft strike hazard plan. That plan was submitted to the FAA and approved earlier this year.”
Bird strikes became a national issue after the heroic landing of a US Air flight into New York’s Hudson River.
