FAA Confirms Bird Did Strike Plane Landing At LaGuardia

(Queens, NY) — The Federal Aviation Administration confirms an American Airlines plane experienced a bird strike on its final approach to New York’s LaGuardia Airport.The bird strike happened late Tuesday morning when American Airlines Flight 1256 from Miami made a safe landing at the Queens Airport.

The plane was carrying 135 passengers and crew at the time.

A preliminary inspection of the Boeing 737 found the bird struck a hydraulic line on the plane’s nose.

The investigation continues.

The city has been taking steps to reduce the population of Canadian Geese following the miracle landing of the Hudson of US Airways Flight 1549.
