CHICAGO: An All Nippon Airways Boeing 777-300ER made an emergency landing at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport after an apparent bird strike.

The Chicago Tribune reports the plane landed safely a short while after take-off at approximately 12.15pm local time. It was bound for Tokyo’s Narita Airport as flight NH11.

It is believed the plane, registration JA736A collided with a flock of birds over the Mt Prospect area forcing the shut-down of one engine.

The newspaper reported the plane shed fuel over Lake Michigan before landing safely.
